Clinical Indications
Test Method: Immunofluorescence Assay (IFA) utilizing Hep-2000 cells
The detection and semi-quantitation of antinuclear antibodies (ANA) are an important aid in the diagnosis of systemic rheumatic diseases such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD), Sjogren’s syndrome (SS), progressive systemic sclerosis (PSS), polymyositis, and rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

ANA titer is performed from 1:80 to 1:1280 dilutions. Pattern reported when positive.
Some patients without clinical evidence of autoimmune disease or systemic rheumatic disease may have a detectable level of ANA. ANA may also be detectable following viral illness, in chronic infection, and in patient treated with certain medications.
