Clinical Indications

Test Method: Immunofluorescence Assay (IFA)

Antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (ANCA) are classified as cytoplasmic (cANCA) or perinuclear (pANCA). C-ANCA is associated with Wegener’s granulomatosis (WG).P-ANCA is associated with systemic autoimmune vasculitis.

Acceptable: Red top (serum tube)

Allow blood to clot at room temp (18-24°C). Serum should be separated from the clot ASAP to minimize hemolysis.

ANCA titer is performed from 1:20 to 1:1280 dilutions, when cANCA, pANCA, or both are positive.

cANCA titers may be useful for monitoring treatment response in patients with WG.
