Additional Information / Notes

Creatinine Clearance Requires blood to be drawn at the time the patient brings in the urine collection. Blood must be collected within 72 hours of urine collection.

24 Hour Urine Collection Instructions:

1. Start the 24-hour urine test by urinating directly into the toilet. Do not save this urine. After you urinate, record the start date and time on your patient label. For the next 24 hours, urinate first into a collection container (specimen hat), then pour ALL the urine into your storage container. Keep the container refrigerated between additions.
2. Exactly 24 hours after you started the test, urinate one last time and place the urine in your storage container. This is the end of your test. Write the stop date and time on your patient label.
3. Keep your specimens cool at all times during the collection. Keep the jug in the refrigerator or in a container filled with ice.
4. The collection needs to be brought to the laboratory within 24 hours after collection is complete. Please make sure you fill out the label with your name, date of birth, the start time/date and the stop time/date. Place the label on the container before bringing it to the laboratory.
5. If you have any further questions please contact the area where you got the supplies.
