Test Code EBVQ Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV), Quantitative in Plasma
Clinical Indications
Alinity m EBV assay is intended for use in conjunction with clinical presentation and other laboratory markers to provide clinicians with a means to assess EBV levels in the management of transplant patients. This assay is not intended to be used as a screening test for donors of blood, blood products, or human cells, tissues, and cellular and tissue-based products (HCT/Ps) for EBV.

Interpretation
This assay is FDA-cleared to quantitate EBV from 50 to 200,000,000 IU/mL (1.70 to 8.30 log IU/mL). The limit of detection for this assay is 20 IU/mL (1.30 log IU/mL).
A "Not Detected" result indicates that EBV DNA was not detected. Negative test results do not preclude viral infection or tissue invasive viral disease. Test results must not be the sole basis for patient management decisions.
A result of <50 IU/mL (<1.70 log IU/mL) indicates that EBV DNA is detected, but the EBV DNA level present cannot be quantified accurately below this lower limit of quantification of this assay.
A numerical result is reported when EBV DNA is detected. If detected, quantitative results will be reported in IU/mL and log IU/mL.
