Clinical Indications
Useful for the detection of S. agalactiae, N.
gonorrhoeae, and other urogenital pathogens
In cases of suspected N. gonorrhoeae, molecular testing is
the preferred testing method (CTNG, CTNGU).
For S. agalactiae screening of pregnant women, order
STREP.
For the diagnosis of bacterial vaginosis, order a direct exam (DE).

Interpretation
Female:
Growth of N. gonorrhoeae or S. agalactiae is
reported.
Pure or predominant (moderate to heavy) growth of Candida
species will be reported and may support a diagnosis of fungal
vaginosis.

Positive cultures will be reported with organism
identification.
