Additional Information / Notes

Draw fasting specimen first, then give the patient 75g of glucose. Collect specimen 60 minutes after glucose dose is given. Collect another specimen 2 hours after the glucose dose. Specimens collected in a serum gel tube or lithium heparin gel tube must be centrifuged within 3 hours of collection. Serum gel should clot for 30 minutes prior to being centrifuged.
