Interpretation
Positive cultures are reported semi-quantitatively with organism
identification.
A negative report is issued after 5 days of culture for most
specimen sites. Peritoneal dialysate and ocular fluid are incubated
for 7 days.
Susceptibility testing will be performed as appropriate.
Rejection Criteria
Genital specimens should be ordered using test code GENC.
Stool specimens should be ordered using test code STC.
Respiratory specimens should be ordered using test code
LOR.
Dry swabs and specimens received >24h after will be
rejected.
