Additional Information / Notes

The urine specimen should be examined immediately. Specimens are acceptable for up to 1 hour at room temperature. Specimens may be preserved by refrigeration, up to 2 hours, at 2-8 C, or transferred to a UA preservative tube. The urine is acceptable for analysis in the preservative tube up to 72 hours at room temp. Refrigeration of the preservative tube will not extend the stability beyond 72 hours. Unpreserved urine samples allowed to sit at room temperature will decompose and may yield erroneous results.
