Clinical Indications
Limited utility as an indicator of deficiency; concentration does not correlate well with intake. Zinc, Serum or Plasma concentrations are best for assessment of deficiency over short periods of time. For acute toxicity, Zinc, Urine may be a more reliable indicator of exposure.

This test requires whole blood collected in a royal blue (dark blue-top) EDTA tube, which is generally not stocked on the units. This is NOT same as the royal blue no-additive tube, which is used for metals testing performed on serum. Call the lab at 8-1702 to have the appropriate tube sent.
